Tacoma History Comes Alive, a boutique tour company owned and operated by Patty Rivers Mannie, is now open in Tacoma.
Tacoma History Comes Alive offers historical tours of Ruston Way, the Westmoreland neighborhood of Tacoma, and downtown. The tour company also offers research for those looking to find out more about the home in which they live. Brochure printing can be used to provide more details about such tours and other services that are offered.
The Downtown Tacoma Tour is a walking tour that includes the Rust Building, 1st Federal Savings, the music teachers who lived in the Bernice Building, and the history of the Pacific.
The Ruston Way Tour cover a stretch of Commencement Bay that is home to water carnivals, the Cumming Boat Company, Fourth of July celebrations, and over 30 wood mills along the waterfront of Tacoma. This tour covers the history of burning buildings, racketeering, and tragic car accidents.
The Westmoreland Neighborhood Tour uncovers some unknown history of the area before the Westgate Shopping Center, the 990 homes built by the Briggs Construction Company, and before North 30th Street was paved.
Rivers Mannie was born and raised in the north end of Tacoma and is a fourth generation native of the city. Her passion for its history grew after attending a Tour of Homes in 1976, during the American Bicentennial. She is a charter member of the Tacoma Historical Society.
