Tacoma seeks people for special committee positions

Applicants are being sought to fill six positions on the City Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC).

Tacoma City Council is advertising three at-large positions and three representing Council Districts 3, 4, and 5. The need for such applicants is often made known throughout a city with poster printing.

The Tacoma City Council comprises 11 people with representatives from each of the five council districts. They enjoy working with others to recognize those who give back, and are passionate and knowledgeable about the contributions of volunteers and their contributions to the community.

The CERC is an action and advisory committee on issues related to recognition programs, special events funding, and events hosted by the city. The committee reviews, evaluates, and plans events that receive services and grant funding, and engage in the community in planning events hosted by the city.

Applications need to be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk by Tuesday, April 15. Once appointed, members need to complete Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act training sessions provided by the Washington State Office of the Attorney General.
