A subsidiary of HD Hyundai engaged in shipbuilding, HD Hyundai Samho is launching an initiative of cooperative shipbuilding between the United States and Korea. This is called the Make American Shipbuilding Great Again project, enabling it to enter into the market of port cranes in the United States.
In addition to the four cranes for WUT, HD Hyundai Samho will also modernize a facility at the port. Of the four cranes, two new cranes will be installed, and two older cranes will be replaced. Yard cranes load cargo on vehicles, while quay cranes shift containers between the shore and vessels. It will handle crane commissioning, design, transportation, manufacturing, and installation.
A representative from the Korean ocean carrier HMM said:
“The equipment modernization at WUT will allow us to provide efficient logistics services to our shippers.”
The representative added that their investments in infrastructure will continue at the ports and the expansion of their fleet.
