Tacoma to hold workshop on business taxes

The Local Employment and Apprenticeship Training Program and the Equity in Contracting Program of the city of Tacoma are inviting eligible businesses to apply to participate in their Business Taxes Workshop next week.

This cohort is sponsored by the city and offers a unique opportunity for business owners to strengthen their financial knowledge and have one-on-one guidance from Tai Moultrie, co-owner, chief financial officer, and vice president of Higher Than Me Consulting, LLC.

Among the topics to be covered in the class are the best practices in financial management, modern financial systems and automation, common mistakes in filing taxes and how to avoid them, business tax preparation and compliance, and the importance of separating business and personal finances. Local Print shops can help with such workshops by printing additional educational materials to take away after the class.

Ideal candidates for this class are those who have been in business for at least one year, have a financial history to review with the certified public accountant (CPA), and are able to commit the workshop and up to three hours per month of additional learning through August.

This will be an in-person class lasting three hours, with a maximum capacity of 25 students. This will enable each student to work directly with the CPA for three months after the first class.

This workshop will be on Tuesday, June 10 from 9:00 am to noon at 747 Market Street in Tacoma.
