Two community events will be held in Tacoma this month to offer members of the community opportunities to meet Interim Police Chief Patti Jackson.
Jackson was appointed to the position in February last year and is being considered for a permanent appointment as Police Chief. These opportunities will enable Jackson to present her leaderships goals and vision for the Tacoma Police Department.
These two events will be moderated, and members of the community are invited to email their questions beforehand to the Human Resources Department. At the end of each event, there will be an opportunity for attendees to give their feedback on Interim Chief Jackson. The Interim City Manager Hyun Kim will use this feedback to make a decision on the permanent appointment.
Jackson has 35 years of experience in law enforcement, including extensive leadership experience with the Sheriff’s Office of Pierce County. Throughout her career, she has focused on building trust between law enforcement and the community, while gaining expertise in union contract negotiations, budget preparation, and mentoring future leaders.
The in-person community event will be from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Monday, January 12 in the Council Chambers of the Tacoma Municipal Building on Market Street. The virtual community events will be from noon to 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 15.
