Tacoma to raise a glass or two next month

This year will see a new beer festival in the city of Tacoma, Washington. The South Sound IPA Festival will be presented by the Washington Beer Commission in October.

Designed to be an intimate event, the festival will involve 24 breweries from Washington, and they will pour more than 50 IPAs during a pair of tasting sessions. Participating breweries and food vendors are expected to be announced soon, according to the festival’s website.

Breweries at similar festivals sometimes take the opportunity to invest in business card printing. Being able to bring home cards may help attendees remember which IPAs were their favorites.
Tickets are currently available online, and cost $25 if purchased in advance, and $30 at the door. The admission cost will include a commemorative tasting cup, as well as eight 4oz sample tastes. To enter the festival, attendees must be at least 21 years old, and show a valid ID. Designated driver tickets will be available at the door for $5, and will include soda and water.

The festival will take place on October 18 at Union Station on Pacific Avenue. The first tasting session will start at noon and go until 4:00 pm, while the second will start at 5:30pm and continue until 9:30 pm. Only service dogs will be admitted to the event. Tickets may be purchased at the Washington Beer Commission’s website.
