Tacoma seeks proposals for development of old city hall

Ideas are being sought by the city of Tacoma for the development of Old City Hall in honor of Historic Preservation Month. A request similar to this was made earlier in the year, but few results came of it.

The city has already invested over $1bn in the downtown area and the neighborhoods surrounding it and is looking for a project that will contribute to the vitality of the area. Currently under construction is a restoration of the former Elks Temple by McMenamins of Portland, Oregon. This development company creates destination-style entertainment centers and brew pubs.

Next to the temple, the Union Club of Tacoma has been renovated by Eli Moreno for co-working space as is another property on Broadway by AxoWorks LLC of Seattle.

The city is looking for hotels, residential spaces, and offices that will house financially strong companies, offering professional positions with career growth. Retail venues and restaurants are also being requested at the street level to attract pedestrians.

Those who are interesting in purchasing and developing the property were able to tour it on June 20. The deadline to submit proposals in July 31.

Various types of printing services can be used to promote the potential of such developments and what they can contribute to the life and economic growth of the city.
