Tacoma residents to experience changes in their communities

The Community Plans for Frederickson, Mid-County, Parkland-Spanaway-Midland, and South Hill, which have been developed by the Pierce County Planning and Public Works in Tacoma, will be available for formal review by the residents of the county.

Development and growth within an area are typically described in Community Plans. There are several transportation corridors that will see growth as a result of the plans and will be zoned as a Corridor or Center. Centers are where people in the community live, work, and access amenities, while Corridors connect people to the Centers and are areas for employment, commercial, and residential uses. There will also be zoning changes that will affect about 22,000 property owners who will experience such changes on or within 300 feet of their property.

Printing services are often used for such review, as many related documents can be printed and distributed for the communities to review.

There will be an open house for residents to review the plans at the Pierce County Skills Center in Puyallup on a walk-in basis between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm this Saturday, April 13. Staff will be on hand to answer questions. In addition to this open house, the Land Use Advisory Commissions will be holding additional public meetings in the spring, followed by public hearings to be held by the Planning Commission.
