Investments in digital access to be made in Tacoma

Comcast will be investing $300,000 to support digital adoption and access in the Tacoma area to establish partnerships in the region that advance digital equity for everyone.

These funds will be divided as follows:

• The Boys and Girls Club of the South Puget Sound will receive $50,000
• The Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region will receive $50,000
• TeamWrk will receive donated laptop computers and $50,000 in cash
• The Thrive Tacoma Business Fund will receive $150,000

These organizations were selected by Comcast based on their commitment to digital programs and equity when it comes to offering local skill-building services and access to the internet. Announcements of such investments are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.

Chief Diversity Officer and Executive Vice President of Comcast, Dalila Wilson, said that it is important for members of the community to have online access if they are to be informed of new, local services and economic opportunities.

Victoria Woodards, mayor of Tacoma, said that the Digital Equity Program of the city is ongoing and is evolving as it responds to the level of need. Woodards added that it is critical that the non-profit, private, and public sectors continue to work collaboratively towards these shared goals. She thanked Comcast for its generosity and efforts to support digital access for those in need in the region.
