Artistic endeavors to be offered in Tacoma

The Tacoma Arts Museum will be offering a special Soap and Candle Crafting workshop in a few days, as well as a special virtual tour of one of its exhibits.

Such activities can be promoted throughout the community with flyer printing.

Gretchen Konrath, who owns The Hobbyist Box, will be the instructor for the workshop. Attendees will receive a custom-made soap, a candle made of soy wax, and a dried flower Do It Yourself kit. During the workshop, Konrath will talk about the native elements and natural ingredients found in the state of Washington and how they can be incorporated into candles and soaps.

The Hobbyist Box specializes in Do It Yourself kits that use natural ingredients. Konrath has been a crafter her entire life and now shares her enjoyment in this activity with others through the promotion of her craft kits.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 22 from 6:00 to 7:15 pm online. The cost for the workshop is $40 for members of the Museum and $50 for non-members.

Margret Bullock, Interim Chief Curator of the Museum, is also narrating a virtual tour of the Museum’s exhibit, called “Forgotten Stories: Northwest Public Art of the 1930s.” Among the featured pieces in the exhibit is one by Charlotte Mish that highlights the flora native to Oregon and the region of the Pacific Northwest.
