What's Happening in Tacoma, WA…

Tacoma welcomes South American guests

Tacoma recently rolled out the welcome mat for a group of visitors from Chile.

The delegation, which was led by the ambassador to the United States for the country, was in the city to learn more about sustainable urban development and clean water technology.

They toured the center for Urban Waters, which is a facility that engages in research into finding new ways to keep the water supply clean, and also how to engage in development in a way that is sustainable and produce the lowest amount of environmental impact it possibly can. This research center is located on the Foss Waterway in Tacoma.

Along with the tour of the research facility, the group also met the leadership of the University of Washington Tacoma and Puget Sound Partnership. After that, it paid a visit to the Port of Tacoma. Presentation folders can be prepared that are full of further information for the those in the delegation so that they will be able to make good use of it once they return to their home country.

Chile is the state’s largest South American trading partner, and according to the United Nations, the nation has made great strides in improving the quality of its drinking water. However, there are still challenges it faces in managing its water supply, such as preventing industrial pollution, setting high-quality standards, and monitoring the situation to ensure these are met.
