New transport service opening for Tacoma students
The Runner service of Pierce Transit will be starting in Gig Harbor in just a couple of weeks, providing new transport options for students in Tacoma.
Students from Tacoma Community College (TCC) who have a student ORCA pass will be able to use this new service free of charge. Pierce Transit Runner rides, which are on-demand car rides to any location which is not covered by a bus route, are also free to those 18 years of age and younger and are $2.00 or less for all other riders.
For students at TCC, this service will provide an important link between Kimball Drive Park and both the Tacoma and Gig Harbor campuses of TCC. Dean Olga Inglebritson of the Gig Harbor campus said that the lack of a service like this has been a real barrier for students who use public transportation.
Inglebritson expressed her excitement about the launch of this service, as this will facilitate students who use public transportation to access both campuses. Rides can be booked on the Pierce Transit app and usually arrive within 10 to 15 minutes of booking. More information about such new services and their benefits for students is typically provided with flyer printing.
The service will be available daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, beginning at the end of the month.
