National retailer opens renovated store in Tacoma

Walmart’s Supercenter in Tacoma has been remodeled and has celebrated the updated store with a special grand re-opening.

Mary Jensen, store manager, and the Walmart Foundation presented over $100,000 of funding to several non-profit organizations in the area.

There is now a mural at the remodeled front entrance with a Tacoma theme, as well as more parking spaces, expanded delivery and online pickup, a room for nursing mothers, a new vision center, signage and lighting with new displays, and new fitting rooms. The baby and apparel departments have been expanded in addition to an updated grocery, pharmacy, and the remaining departments in the store. Jensen said that these updates will offer a better shopping experience for customers.

Local print shops can also create displays and other printed materials with more information about such updates and features.

One special new feature is “digital touchpoints” which are situated throughout the store and let customers know about the wide range of services and products provided by Walmart using digital screens and QR codes. In addition, the Tacoma store now offers more services that are part of the Walmart+ program of the company. Members of Walmart+ can get free shipping with no minimum order, free delivery from their local store, member pricing on fuel, and early access to special deals. The cost of this service is $98 a year, with a free trial period of 30 days.
