Tacoma ranks in top 50 college towns

An online college rankings and search resource, Best College Reviews, recently published its rankings of the best 50 college towns in the United States. Tacoma, Washington, made the list in the #50 spot.

Best College Reviews called out the city for having all the makings of a great college town, even though they it does not have a flagship school. The city does host several universities, however, including the University of Washington Tacoma and Evergreen State College’s Tacoma Campus. All in all, the student population in Tacoma is around 7,200, according to Business Examiner.

Best College Reviews also praised accessibility in Tacoma, specifically mentioning its ranking as the 19th best city for walking in the U.S., and the availability of the Tacoma Link rail system. The city also has a variety of other amenities and entertainments.

According to Best College Reviews, they looked at a variety of factors to determine the best college towns in the U.S., including how “liveable” the city is, the student-to-resident ratio, and what sort of cultural offerings were available. Some institutions, whether educational or otherwise, might choose to include this information in their promotional materials the next time they visit their brochure printers.

Snagging the number one spot on the list was Boulder, Colorado, followed by Ann Arbor, in Michigan. To see a complete list of the college towns, visit Best College Reviews’ website.
