Pierce County artists are being invited to create designs for traffic Boxes throughout the city of Tacoma, and the city is also on the lookout for mural artists.
The city is looking for experienced artists and graphic design experts to design painted murals in Tacoma. Those who are selected will become part of the Mural Artist Roster and have their work included as part of it. The roster is currently undergoing some changes and groups throughout the city looking for artists to paint murals will have access to this work. The city has several opportunities for murals in the upcoming year that will offer between $1,500 and $50,000 per mural.
Artwork designs are also being sought for traffic signal boxes. These designs will be reproduced as a vinyl wrap. Any medium will be accepted as long as the final design can be reproduced digitally on a two-dimensional vinyl wrap. The applicants will be whittled down to 10 artists, each of whom will be given $1,500 for an approved design and licensing rights so that the city can place each design on multiple utility boxes and/or traffic signals.
Those who are interested may apply for both opportunities and must be a minimum of 18 years old, as well as a Pierce County resident. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, January 25.
