What's Happening in Tacoma, WA…

Tacoma may become home to new entertainment facility

An entertainment development focused on golf could be coming next to the Tacoma Dome.

Topgolf is a fast-paced, high-tech version of golf where players hit golf balls with microchips in them from a variety of hitting bays, each one of which can accommodate six players. The activity is equally challenging for advanced players and beginners. Costs vary by time and location and can run as much as $45 an hour after 5:00 p.m.

The city had requested bids for an 11-acre property near Interstate 5 and the Dome. A project manager with the Community and Economic Development Department for the city, Pat Beard, said Topgolf was the only company to respond to the request. The city plans to spend $30m overall for this entertainment venue, which would be a destination for visitors to the Dome before and after concerts.

Topgolf has replied that it can meet those requirements, as part of the project would include 102 climate-controlled hitting bays so that games can be played throughout the year, as well as 2,100 square feet of private event space, over 200 high-definition televisions, and a large kitchen space for 7,400 square feet of outdoor dining space.

Banner printing companies can be used to create various displays to post in the community so that residents become aware of such innovative entertainment attractions.
