The promotional calendar of the Tacoma Rainiers for the new home season has been released, featuring 15 games at R House and the returning Paint the Park Purple and Color Cheney Crimson. This will be the professional baseball team’s 61st season at Cheney Stadium.
The season will launch with ‘R Welcome Homestand’ with the first themed night being the Copa de la Diversión contest. This will be one of five such contests where the Rainiers will play as La Familia de Tacoma, an initiative by Minor League Baseball in celebration of Latin culture.
There will be food, entertainment, and music with a Latin flair, as well as Copa gear available at the Cheney Stadium Team Store throughout the game, with proceeds going to Centro Latino. The team will play against the El Paso Chihuahuas. This will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 7:05 pm. Such special events and their fundraising efforts are promoted with flyer printing.
Later in the month, the Rainiers will celebrate their first season at Cheney Stadium in 1960 with Throwback Weekend. Players will be dressed in uniforms from the middle of the 20th Century, and jerseys worn during the games will be auctioned later in the weekend. These games will take place at 5:05 pm on Saturday, April 25 and at 1:35 pm on Sunday, April 26.
