Tacoma Arts Projects funding announced
A total of 20 different Tacoma organizations have been selected to receive a cash award to help them fund their art projects.
The Tacoma Arts Commission recently made the announcement that it had chosen the recipients for the 2016 Arts Projects funding. The total value of the awards, which range form $1,000 to $5,000, is $50,000. It will be used to help pay for public outreach initiatives in areas such as theater, dance, literature, film, and visual arts.
There will be visual art for families, six different festivals, contemporary dance, historical demonstrations, readings, youth poetry, a film festival, and a variety of other projects. A printer that also provides marketing services will be able to help promote these to locals and also those from the surrounding area.
The chairman of the Tacoma Arts Commission, Mike Sweney, remarked that its members are very pleased to be able to help provide the financial support that the different initiatives need to be a success. He also pointed out that this will help to bring local artists and audiences together, allowing them to share their talents with the world.
The project is just one of the three funding streams that are administered through the Arts Commission. Its goal is to help make art more affordable and accessible to the public.
