Current Chief Operating Officer (COO) and president, John Manolides, of Commencement Bank in Tacoma will become the new president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on January 1. He will be succeeding current CEO, Hal Russell, who will be retiring at the end of this year.

Rusell co-founded the bank with Manolides in 2006 and led the bank through profitability and growth during the years of the recession. He began the transition on leadership to Manolides in December 2017 when Manolides joined the Board of Directors of the bank and was given the title of President.
Manolides expressed his gratitude at being named the next CEO of Commencement Back. He plans to give his full attention to the continued success of the bank with support from shareholders, the community, clients, and employees. He added that he is looking forward to continuing the growth of the bank and maintaining its extraordinary customer service while also evaluating new opportunities in an industry that is forever changing.
Commencement Bank provides traditional and sustainable banking services to residents of Thurston, South King, and Pierce Counties and neighboring communities. The bank is known for building strong relationships with its customers through traditional services as well as state-of-the-art technology.
Manolides will assume his new position on January 1.
