New hospital to be built in Tacoma

MultiCare will be building a new Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

The Children’s Hospital is now a wing of Tacoma Hospital and will become a separate entity. Currently the wing has 82 beds and children share operating rooms with adults. President of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, Jeff Poltawsky, said that this prevents the hospital from providing the dedicated pediatric care which children need. The new hospital, he added, will be one of the best and safest such hospitals in the country.

The new facility will cost $300 million and will have the same number of beds but each one will be in a private room. There will also be cardiology suites, an intensive care unit, 10 operating rooms, and a cancer center, a mental health crisis center, and other such centers. Flyer printing services are often needed for such new facilities to provide more information about such centers and their services.

Dr. Nicholas Rajacich, an orthopedic surgeon, added that the new hospital will have the most advanced technology, offering a pediatric program that will be among the best in the world. He said that he hopes that more families and children will be able to take advantage of the hospital’s many services.

Groundbreaking is expected to take place in December 2021 or January 2022 and to be operational in the fall of 2024.
