Holiday concert to be held in Tacoma

The Tacoma Refugee Choir (TRC) will be hosting a special concert to celebrate being together this holiday season.

Titled “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” the concert will feature performances by the Tacoma Refugee Choir and solos by Erin Guinup, choir director, as well as other members.

Among the songs to be performed will be “Carol of the Bells” sung in Ukrainian; “Silent Night” sung in nine languages including Khmer, Hebrew, and Farsi; and an original song of TRC called “Moon Song.” “This is My Wish” will also be performed, featuring the piece “Let there be peace on Earth.” Such concerts often create program books created by local print shops with promotions from local businesses and other seasonal wishes.

Ticket prices for the concert go up to $100 with all in-person seats to be purchased in advance. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the programming and operations of TRC and enabling participation to be free to all its members.

TRC’s mission is to enable healing, interconnection, and authentic expression through music and songs. It was formed in August 2016 as a pilot project with 22 refugees and members of the community. It has since grown to over 700 participants from 57 countries and diverse members from across the country.

The concert will be on Saturday, December 18 at Anchor Church beginning at 3:00 pm.
