Tethers Unlimited is just one of several space businesses that are growing in the district. The organization might opt to use digital Business Cards from Tacoma for networking purposes. Dr. Rob Hoyt, who is the chief executive for Tethers Unlimited, has told the Seattle Times:
“We really like to push the boundary of what is science fiction versus science reality. My overall motivation is to enable mankind to settle the solar system.”
Dr. Hoyt has almost 30 engineers in his team. The group has constructed a robot to manufacture large objects in space. In addition, a project is being carried out to assess how to take possession of an asteroid. Tethers Unlimited has been operating for several years, but the enterprise has received a recent boost from the energy created by creative local firms.
The creative businesses in question include Planetary Resources, Vulcan Aerospace and Blue Origin. Space X, a potential producer of satellites, has also opened a new office in the district.
Some more established outfits have also seen their fortunes affected by the expanding interest in space. These include Spaceflight, which was once known as Andrews Space, and Aerojet Rocketdyne. The latter organization has recently been given impetus by NASA which a few weeks ago gave it approximately $18 million for work on travel in deep space.
