The 1980 eruptions of Mount St. Helen’s took place 39 years ago this month, and drummers in the Seattle and Tacoma areas will be coming together to play and raise money to assist homeless families in the area.
Known as Woodstick 2019, the gathering is open to everyone who has drums and drum sets. The minimum fee for entry is $15 but participants are encouraged to raise additional funds and pledges towards the non-profit organization, Network Tacoma, which has been helping homeless families who have children to re-join the community and get out of homelessness. The top fundraiser will be awarded a prize.
Events such as this often use banner printing to promote themselves and their fundraising efforts.
The primary sponsor of the event is the Ted Brown Music Company. Tacoma Arts Live is providing the facility for the event, which is the Tacoma Armory which has recently been renovated. There will be two celebrities at the event—drummer Tony Coleman and Alan White—and they will be available for autographs.
Woodstick 2019 will be held on Saturday, May 18. Those who wish to participate can enter the Tacoma Armory beginning at 10:00 am to set up their instruments. They should bring their own drum sets and a small rug for protection of the floor. The show itself will be from 1:00 until 3:30 pm.
