Change of venue planned for state championship football games
When the six state championship games of high school football are played this December, they will be held in the Tacoma area, with three stadiums playing host.
Poster printing can be for such announcements so that those interested in such games can make their plans for the day.
Two state championship games each will be held at Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood, Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma, and Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. Since the 1985 season, the Tacoma Dome had been the site for all the games, but a revised seating configuration and increasing costs have left it no longer in the plans of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) for the location of games.
A game will be held at each stadium at noon and at 4:00 pm. People can watch two games on game day as the three stadiums are within easy driving distance of each other.
Mick Hoffman, Executive Director of the WIAA, said that the Executive Board and the staff were looking to find three venues that were close to each other and could handle the requirements of a WIAA State Championship. He expressed his gratitude that the managers of these stadiums were able to make them available, as he believes they will offer a great experience for those who attend the most important games of the year.
These games will be held on Saturday, December 7.
