Art center all set to Go West

The Tacoma Art Museum is celebrating the opening of the exhibit ‘Art of the American West’ this November with a day of festivities.

The ‘Go West’ grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting, author lectures, musical entertainment, performances, and stagecoach rides.

Later on the same evening, a social and members' party is being held; guests will enjoy appetizers, drinks, and dancing to the music of The Tallboys. People attending are encouraged to wear western attire.

‘Art of the American West’ will open the new Haub Family Collection of Western Art gallery. There will be 140 works of art on display ranging from 1797 to today. A catalog featuring most of these is included in the Haub Collection catalog available at the museum.

This event might attract some who work for Tacoma Print companies to get an idea of the history of American art, thereby gaining inspiration for their own creations.

The ‘Go West’ opening is taking place on November 15 from 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with stagecoach rides being held between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm. Admission to the museum is $10, $8 for students, seniors, and military, or $25 for a family. The evening party will be held from 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm, with tickets priced at $15 for museum members and $50 for non-members. Call 253-272-4258 to learn more about these events.
