Amazon to build new delivery stations near Tacoma

Amazon will be opening delivery stations in Frederickson and Lakewood, the latter of which will be on Spring Street SW and may provide employment for those in Tacoma.

Delivery stations typically have hundreds of both part-time and full-time people, with salaries beginning at $15 per hour. These are mostly jobs for drivers and are part of Amazon Flex and Amazon Delivery Service Partners. Stationery printers are often used for the printed material needs of such new facilities.

Amazon sortation and fulfillment centers in the area typically ship packages to delivery stations where they are loaded in vehicles for delivery and then delivered to customers. Amazon Robotics will be used at these new stations which will help employees efficiently and safely sort packages so they can get to customers. These new delivery stations are also designed for its electric vehicles as they are optimized to scale and to be flexible with the goal of Amazon to have 10,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by next year. Amazon currently has over 250 delivery stations in the United States.

Bruce Dammeier, Executive of Pierce County, expressed his excitement that Amazon will be growing in the county. These anticipated delivery stations will bring revenue, growth, and hundreds of new jobs to the county at a time when they are needed the most.
