Singer/songwriter with 50-year career on way to San Diego

A talented artist with a five-decade career behind him is coming to San Diego.

Jackson Browne was born in Germany and moved with his family to Los Angeles when he was three. Browne joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band after high school and performed with them when they opened for the Lovin’ Spoonful. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recorded several of Browne’s songs including “Shadow Dream Song” and “These Days.”

Browne began to enjoy commercial success in 1971, when he signed with Asylum Records, and released “Jackson Browne” in 1972. The album spawned several hits including “Jamaica Say You Will,” Rock Me on the Water,” and “Doctor My Eyes,” which became a Top Ten hit single. His song about Adam Saylor, “Song for Adam,” added to his reputation, and he joined Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt on tour to promote the album.

“Running on Empty,” which dropped in 1977, is Browne’s most successful effort. His approach was radically different from most albums, as it comprised all new material, and was compiled on the road. Some of the biggest hits of his career, including the title track, came from this album. In his career, Browne has sold over 18 million albums. A review says:

“It is just so very great to see him still enjoying himself and sounding so very great!”

Jackson Browne will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on September 6. When they plan events like this, organizers often choose poster printing to create advertising.
