Elvis Costello & the Imposters, along with Charlie Sexton, will be in San Diego soon. Costello, who was born in London, comes from a musical family, and learned a great deal about music of all kinds. His start in the music business took place while punk rock was catching on in England. Over time, his styles have come to include everything from classical music to R&B.
Costello released his debut album, “My Aim is True,” in 1977. The album had no hit singles, but his next two albums, “This Year’s Model,” and “Armed Forces,” came to define the genre known as New Wave. He is still on the road continuing a career that began in the 1970s. A review says:
“Costello’s voice took a little while to warm up, but he’s still got it — in spades.”
Costello’s honors include two Ivor Novello Awards, two Grammys, four Edison Awards, a Gemini Award, an ASCAP Founders Award, a BAFTA Award, and an MTV Video Music Award.
Charlie Sexton, a long-time associate of Costello, is with him. Sexton is a native of Austin, Texas, and learned to play the Blues from W.C. Clark, the “Godfather of Austin Blues.”
The concert is scheduled for June 24 at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. Typically, Posters are used to promote events like this, and organizers can find them at Print shops.
