Three Dog Night first got together in Los Angeles in 1967, and since their founding, put over 20 singles into the Top 40. Their music is still heard on mainstream radio stations.
The founders were Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron, who were together in another band, Redwood, where they recorded with the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson. They changed their name and brought Floyd Sneed, Michael Allsup, Joe Schermie, and Jimmy Greenspoon aboard to form the first lineup.
Their live performances around Los Angeles brought them to the notice of Dunhill, who signed them. In 1968, they released their first album, which contained the hit “One.” Their second album, “Suitable for Framing,” was a commercial success. In 1970, they released “Naturally,” which produced two megahits, “Liar” and “Joy to the World.”
Part of the band’s success was due to their work ethic, as they released at least one album annually from 1968 to 1976. Every album charted and provided hits like “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” and Easy to be Hard.”
A concert review says:
“Three Dog Night sounds better than ever! There is great joy on stage and all the band members are so talented.”
Three Dog Night will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on May 22. Organizers who plan shows like this can use poster printing to create suitable advertising.
