Indie rockers duo arrive in San Diego

A brother-and-sister duo coming to San Diego.

DURRY is Austin Durry and his sister Taryn Durry, who formed their band in 2020. They first came to wide attention for their song “Who’s Laughing Now,” which went viral in 2021.

The band started during COVID, when Austin and Ashley, his wife, returned to his parents’ home. Austin had enjoyed some success with the Coyote Kid band, with whom he played for 12 years, and was wondering if his musical dreams were possible. However, his sister Taryn was there, even though a seven-year age gap meant they were not particularly close growing up. She became his sounding board, and their collaboration was the springboard for DURRY.

The duo planned to launch an EP in May 2021, funded Kickstarter, but their song “Who’s Laughing Now” was a TikTok sensation in September of that year, and the attention encouraged them to finish the project quickly. They were also encouraged by the praise they received from Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, and by January of 2022, DURRY had more than one million streams on the Spotify platform.

When they appear live, DURRY expands the band to a four-piece ensemble, adding drummer Dane Hoppe and Ashley, Austin’s wife, on bass.

They have dropped two albums thus far, 2023’s “Suburban Legend,” and 2025’s “This Movie Sucks.”

DURRY will be at the Quartyard in San Diego on October 21. Appearances like this can benefit if organizers work with poster printing to create advertising for them.
