Choice of metal bands for San Diego

Three metal bands are on the way to San Diego, each bringing their own take on the genre.

Queensrÿche, who first got together in Bellevue, Washington, in 1980, is the concert headliner. A progressive metal band, Queensrÿche has worldwide album sales of over 20 million units and is considered a leader of the metal scene that appeared in the 1980s.

They self-released their first EP, 1982’s “Queensrÿche,” and began to build a national following. EMI Records, noticing their growing popularity, signed them and re-released the EP in 1983. Their first three studio albums were popular and the third, “Operation: Mindcrime,” which they dropped in 1988, cemented their reputation. They released their sixteenth studio album, “Digital Noise Alliance,” in 2022. A review of the band live says:

“[The concert] . . . was a powerful showcase of the band’s enduring legacy and ability to captivate audiences with their intricate musicianship and theatrical stage presence.”

ACCEPT and Symphony X are on the tour. ACCEPT is a heavy metal band from Solingen, Germany, who formed in 1968. They are recognized as one of the architects of the development of thrash metal and speed metal.

Symphony X is a New Jersey group that formed in Middletown in 1994. They are best known for the albums “Paradise Lost” (2007), and 2011’s “Iconoclast,” which hit the 76th spot on the Billboard 200.

The bands will appear at the House of Blues on December 19. Advertising concerts using poster printing methods allows organizers to create truly innovative designs.
