Award-winning country band to visit San Diego

A band the Associated Press has called an antidote to country music cliches is coming to San Diego.

The Eli Young Band formed 20 years ago when college classmates got together. Since they got started, they have put 14 singles on the Billboard charts, including four hits that went to No. 1 – “Crazy Girl,” “Love Ain’t,” “Drunk Last Night,” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” According to Billboard Year-End, 2011’s “Crazy Girl” was the year’s top country song. The band has received numerous nominations for Teen Choice Awards, ACA, CMT, CMA, and the Grammys.

The band comprises Mike Eli, Chris Thompson, Jon Jones, and James Young. They compose their own songs, are accomplished instrumentalists, and remain true to their roots in Texas. They routinely sell out venues throughout the country, and have appeared with artists such as the Dave Matthews Band, Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and Kenny Chesney.

The band prides itself on hard work, noting that they did not enjoy instant success but built their career over the years. A review says:

“Country is a genre often dominated by successful solo artists . . . However, a band attempting to challenge this preconception is the Eli Young Band. Their melodic country has seen them achieve chart domination over both the country album and singles chart.”

Eli Young & Band will be at the Music Box on Wednesday, September 11, where poster printing can be used to promote events like this.
