Walk in Canonsburg to support childrens advocates
An upcoming event in Canonsburg is designed to support people who help children.
CASA for Kids for Washington County is the organizer of the upcoming CASA for Kids Walk for a Child. The event asks participants to walk one mile to raise funds for children’s advocates.
CASA for Kids is a non-profit organization that conducts training for members of the community to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), who speak for children in the court system in Washington County.
The average cost to provide an advocate for a child for a year is $2,000. One mile is equivalent to approximately 2,000 steps, meaning that each step a participant takes is worth $1.00 to the organization.
In addition to walking for a good cause, there will be raffles, a DJ, creative stations, and more. Participants are encouraged to decorate their shoes with pom poms, colorful laces, or other decorations, as well as to take part in the Decorate Your Shoes Contest.
Everyone who wants to take part must register online individually before the event. The suggested donation is $25. Children under 12 may walk for free, but they will need to be registered and have an adult accompany them. Everyone who attends will receive a T-shirt.
The walk is scheduled for April 27 at 8.00 am at Southpointe Town Center on Main Street. Organizers of events like this will frequently work with banner printing to create course markers.
