A building in Canonsburg has been transformed and is now a performance venue, set to host a local favorite next month.

The Canonsburg Middle School Campus has been renovated into a culture, arts, and community life destination. The new Canon Theatre is the old school auditorium, which was built in 1931, and is being modernized and restored to meet the needs of Canonsburg residents today, while keeping its legacy as a community gathering place intact. The project is not only a renovation, but also an investment in the future of Canonsburg and the region.

The new theater has state-of-the-art production technology, lighting, and sound equipment, and will seat approximately 560 patrons. A concession area and bar have been installed, and performers have updated dressing rooms and a backstage area.

The Clarks, one of the most popular rock bands in the area, will be the first to give a performance in the new space. The group first got together in 1986 when most of its members were attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Over the course of a 40-year career, they have released 11 studio albums, and several other projects including a 2026 EP, “Echoes from the Pitt,” which they created to honor the fact their song “Better Off Without You” was used in the second season premiere episode of “The Pitt.”
