Spooky races planned in Canonsburg

October is set to bring the spookiness to Canonsburg with two upcoming races.

The Jack O Lantern Jog and the Skeleton Stroll are back for the 21st year in a row, giving participants a chance to enjoy some exercise and get ready for Halloween. The races are being run in reverse, with the 5K Jog kicking off before the stroll begins.

The 5K Jack O’Lantern Jog starts at 9.00 am, with the Skeleton Stroll, which is one mile in length, beginning at 9.05 am. Both races will start from the Canon-McMillan High School, and everyone is encouraged to come in costume, as prizes will be given for the best dressed. When they design events like this, organizers can use banner printing to create course markers to guide participants.

The event will also include a raffle with great prizes, including a chance for all participants who have registered to win a grand prize. The top three finishers in numerous age categories will receive medals, and the fastest groups will receive team awards.

The races are set for the morning of Saturday, October 25, and will help to raise funds to support the Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan. Participants who register for the event by October 12 are eligible to receive a commemorative shirt, so registrants need to include their size. The race will take place whether the weather is inclement or not, and no refunds will be given.
