Festive dinner planned in Canonsburg

A dinner celebrating a significant event is coming up in Canonsburg.

The Whiskey Rebellion Dinner is the main fundraiser for the Bradford House, a historic property that was the home of one of the leaders of the Whiskey Rebellion, David Bradford, who lived in the house from 1788 to 1794.

The rebellion was a small uprising by distillers, many in Western Pennsylvania, who objected to a new excise tax on whiskey. The tax was introduced because Alexander Hamilton, the Secretary of the Treasury, knew the young nation needed to find a steady source of funding. He proposed the tax, which ignited the revolt. The history of Bradford and the rebellion are curated at Bradford House, which turns 60 this year.

The evening includes a reception with passed hors d’oeuvres plus cocktails, and a silent auction, followed by a three-course sit-down dinner. Since this event honors the Whiskey Rebellion, a representative from Suntory will be on hand to describe the whiskey flight. The flight for 2025 includes Rebellion Reserve, Maker’s Mark Star Hill Farm, and a third whiskey to be determined.

Items in the silent auction include whiskey, a flower arrangement, tickets to various events, and a Whiskey Rebellion basket. Attendees will take home a bottle of Maker’s Mark.

The event is scheduled for Friday, November 14 at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe, at 1000 Corporate Drive in Canonsburg. Events like this can benefit when organizers use flyer printing to create menus.
