A comedian who uses plainspoken delivery to share incisive jokes is coming to Canonsburg.
Janet McNamara is originally from Summerville, Massachusetts and was raised in Boston but now works out of New York City. Her debut special, “Not Smart Enough,” was a success and landed her a regular spot at The Comedy Cellar. Vulture put her special on their 2026 “9 New Comedy Specials You Should Definitely Watch” list.
McNamara has worked with comedians such as Bill Burr and Amy Schumer, further solidifying her role as a comic who can stand with the biggest names in the business.
McNamara’s day job is as an accountant, which she has done for 15 years and says she enjoys, mostly because it stops conversations dead. She balances office work with stand-up comedy where she has been recognized as one of the most distinctive comedians working, thanks to her wit coupled with her forthright delivery.
She has shared her skewed perspective on “American Idol,” “America’s Got Talent,” and “Don’t Tell Comedy.” She has opened for other artists such as Eugene Mirman, and Maria Bamford, and appeared at such festivals as the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival, the Big Sky Comedy Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival, and the Women in Comedy Festival.
Janet McNamara will be at the Atomic Comedy Company in Canonsburg on November 21. Patrons are welcome to BYOB; concessions are available. Organizers of events like this often use poster printing to create advertisements to help promote them.
