Tasty event awaits in Canonsburg

An upcoming event promises to be a delicious way to help others.

Sweet Sunday is a community tradition in Canonsburg, but it has been modified this year and is now Sweet & Savory Sunday, as new options have been added. The event helps support City Mission, which aids families and individuals in need.

The event is a festival-type occasion with numerous food vendors and live entertainment. Although popular vendors will be on hand with desserts, this year’s gathering includes vendors with savory treats like meatballs, pierogies, pizza, and similar dishes.

In addition to the food, there will be a dessert judging contest, a silent auction, auction baskets, and two Wreaths of Wealth that total $2,500 in gift cards. A Kids’ Korner will have plushies, games, and crafts suitable for youngsters, and Royal Princess Engagements will be on hand with some of its characters.

The entertainment for this occasion will be provided by Scott Blasey, lead singer of The Clarks, who will be on the main stage. Blasey and the Clarks began as a cover band but soon started performing original material. Blasey has released three albums since going solo.

This year’s Sweet & Savory Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, February 22 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe in Canonsburg. Tickets will be sold at the door priced at $5, with no charge for children under three. Organizers of events like this can use poster printing to create colorful advertising for them.
