What's Happening in Canonsburg, PA…

The curtain is up on the new season of a local theater.

Canonsburg’s Little Lake Theatre was founded in 1949, with the idea of creating what is considered a true community theater – a place where everyone who loves theater is welcome to explore the artform, whether they are acting, designing, directing, volunteering, or simply enjoying the plays as part of the audience. Physically, it is a small house that seats 135 in a “theater-in-the-round” design—a square stage surrounded by the audience.

Its season began in May, but there are two shows on the way for people to enjoy in July; “A Few Good Men,” and “Frozen Jr.” Many people probably know the movie “A Few Good Men” with Jack Nicholson, but the play was written first. This courtroom drama follows the JAG lawyers dealing with a murder case involving two Marines. Aaron Sorkin wrote the play and later adapted it for the screen.

“Frozen Jr.,” like “A Few Good Men,” is probably familiar to audiences because of the Disney film but it too is based the 2018 Broadway play “Frozen.” The songs include “Let It Go” and all the beloved characters are here.

“A Few Good Men” will open June 25 and runs through July 12, and “Frozen Jr.” begins July 23 and continues through August 2. Using flyer printing gives local organizations like this an economical way to announce events, concentrating on distribution within the community.
