Pittsburgh prepares for long-running art showcase
The 56th Three Rivers Art Festival is taking place for 10 days this June, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
There will be a number of art and music activities taking place all over the city in various venues, with dance, art, panel discussions, and studio tours on offer. Some of the musicians who will be appearing at this year's festival are Jenny Lewis, Railroad Earth, and the Felice Brothers.
Among the planned visual art events during the festival is an artists’ marketplace set to feature more than 300 artists from all over the country, and one of those participating is from nearby McMurray. Many of the artists will probably work with local printing companies to create signage to draw more attention to their booths.
Another event being held is Intr(au)spective. It features the finalists of a juried exhibition for Pittsburgh Society of Artists members. There are 34 pieces by 30 artists with the theme of "unseen/unheard", and there will be an opening reception for the exhibit.
The Three Rivers Art Festival is held from June 5 to 14. Intr(au)spective will take place at 937 Gallery, and has its reception on June 5 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Admission is free.
