What's Happening in Canonsburg, PA…

Old-time Christmas to come to Canonsburg

Canonsburg is famous for its traditional Christmas celebration, which is returning this year.

The 7th annual Canonsburg's Old-Fashioned Christmas is on the way. Visit.PA, which is Pennsylvania’s official tourism website, has called Canonsburg one of the most “Hallmark movie-esque” places in the state, leading to the community becoming a holiday destination for many people.

During the holidays, Canonsburg transforms itself into a winter wonderland befitting of a holiday movie. The transformation includes thousands of white lights strung throughout downtown, a display of Christmas trains, live reindeer, and a special market with more than 60 vendors with Christmas and holiday-themed items. The Jingle Bar, located on Pike Street, will have vendors on hand to serve adults with spirits, wine, and beer.

Other attractions include photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus telling stories, a gingerbread house contest, face painting, and Christmas games and crafts. If people get hungry, more than 15 food trucks will be on hand with holiday treats.

Among the highlights of the weekend are the official lighting of the Christmas tree and a drone show. The latter is new for 2024, and will give attendees a chance to see festive drones hovering 400 feet above them.

Canonsburg's Old-Fashioned Christmas is next Friday, December 6 from 4.00 pm until 8.00 pm, and Saturday, December 7 from 12.00 noon until 8.00 pm. The tree lighting is at 5.30 pm on the Friday. When they plan events like this, organizers will often use banner printing to create seasonal decorations.
