Oddities exhibit in Canonsburg area
An event featuring all things weird and wonderful is coming to the Canonsburg area, bringing such unusual opportunities that the trip looks set to be worth it.
The World Oddities Expo: Pittsburgh will set up in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where guest speakers, educators, performers, vendors, and artists will create a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
At the Lost Curio Marketplace, attendees will find treasures ranging from home décor and jewelry, to macabre art, insects, and taxidermy.
Expert artists at the Oddity Ink Parlour will provide tattoos at the event. Professionals will give talks at the W.O.E. Theater, which will also feature live entertainment.
W.O.E. Labs are offering hands-on sessions in pinning butterflies, taxidermy, and dissecting owl pellets. Those who attend the Butterfly Pinning Workshop will learn how to pin and mount butterflies in a shadowbox.
Taxidermy students will work on a rat, learning how to mount the animal, set the eyes, and more. This class requires that students from ages 15 to 18 have an adult accompany them, but the adult need not enroll if they do not intend to participate.
Finally, people can dissect owl pellets, which are the remains of the birds’ prey they cannot digest. Instead, they regurgitate these indigestible materials in the form of small pellets.
This event is on January 23, from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The convention center is on Fort Duquesne Boulevard. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create a list of attractions for attendees.
