New Year's Resolution Run starts 2020 on a healthy step
While many of Canonsburg’s New Year's Eve revelers may be nursing headaches and hangovers on January 1, there will be those who will start 2020 on the right foot by running a nearby 5K race.
Called the New Year's Resolution Run, it encourages participants to make healthy living a part of their life commitments over the next 12 months.
To help toast in the new year, the first 100 runners who register for the 5K run and one-mile walk will get a special edition Resolution Run pint glass.
The cost of registering for the 5K run is $25, and it will be $15 for the 1 mile walk. Participants have right up until December 31 to register.
According to several studies, the top three New Year's resolutions are eating healthy, getting more exercise and saving more money. Data also shows that those who make resolutions are more likely to attain their goals than people who do not.
The race takes pace in a new location in 2020, at the Oakdale Community Center, following the Panhandle Trail.
The top three male and female runners will get an award, and there are a number of age categories. Races such as these can get professional banners for starting lines and finish lines from local print shops.
The New Year's Resolution Run takes place January 1, 2020 at the Oakdale Community Center, 104 Seminary Ave., in Oakdale.
