July holiday run in Canonsburg

An upcoming run will get the July 4th holiday off to a great start as well as raising funds for the Canon-McMillan Cross Country Team.

The 41st Annual Whiskey Rebellion 5K Race gives participants two options, either to run or walk the distance. People are welcome to run in a group but will need to register using the longest finish time of one of the members. All runners will need to estimate how long they believe it will take them to finish the race so they can be placed accordingly.

People using jogging strollers are permitted to take part, but only service animals are allowed. Beverage and food tables will be available.

Runners can pick up their packets and bibs at the parking lot at 1 North Jefferson Avenue, near Sarris Library. The material will be available from 5.00 pm until 7.00 pm, and anyone who lives locally is encouraged to pick up their packets on July 3. Those who are unable to get their information before the race can pick it up on July 4.

The race is scheduled for July 4, before the parade. The gates will open at 6.15 am, and runners will begin lining up at 7.10 am. The race will begin at 7.30 am, and runners will be starting in groups based on their pace. The starting line is the Canon Mac Stadium. When organizers plan events like this, they often work with banner printing to create course markers.
