Fundraiser will celebrate local food, wine, and music
The 6th annual Wine, Jazz and Pops festival is taking place next month for two days. It is a fundraiser for the Mental Health Association of Washington County.
The festival will take place in two covered pavilions, although guests are welcome to bring their own tents and seating. It will feature the produce of several area wineries, as well as local food vendors. Several merchandise and arts and crafts vendors will also be on hand.
Guests can also enjoy musical entertainment from such acts as the Washington Jazz Orchestra, Mark Lucas, the Glen Zaleski Trio, and Ruby Red and the Dirty Devils. They can also sign up for a paint and sip session with artist Linda Vannewkirk.
The festival will also see the award of prizes in the 3rd annual Amateur Wine Making Competition; guests will supply two bottles of wine in advance to the judges. The winners in each category will receive a $50 gift certificate. This year, the winemakers will also compete for the People’s Choice award.
It is likely that some of the vendors participating in this festival will come from all around the area, including McMurray. Many may also use banners to draw more attention to their booths.
The Wine, Jazz, and Pops festival will be held at North Strabane Municipal Park in Canonsburg from August 6 to 7. Call 724-225-2061 for more information.
