Full-day celebration in Canonsburg
Plans are in place for a great day in Canonsburg to celebrate the 4th of July.
The day kicks off with church bells ringing throughout the town at 9.00 am. At 9.05 am, Mayor David Rhome and Jennifer Shinshasky will be at the reviewing stand to welcome everyone to the event, followed by Dominique Theodore singing the national anthem.
The main event of the morning is the Parade, which starts at 10.00 am, moving down Cavasina Drive and heading west onto Pike Street, which it will follow until it ends at Bluff Street. This year’s local grand marshal is Linda Loue Neill, and Chris Hoffman is the celebrity grand marshal.
The afternoon events take place at the Town Park, from 12.00 pm until 6.00 pm. Admission to the pool is free, as is the giant slider, moon bounce, and rock-climbing wall. Free balloon creations will be made until 4.00 pm, and face painting is free until 5.00 pm. The Main Pavilion will host SPJ Button Box at 1.30 pm, and the Tom Terling Band at 3.30 pm.
The Canonsburg Memorial Stadium is the venue for the evening events, which include performances by Aaron Margaria and Cross Creek. The day is capped off at 10.00 pm with a fireworks display courtesy of Pyrotechnico. Snack and food vendors will be on site. Organizers of celebratory events like this will find it helpful to use banner printing to create festive banners to decorate the venues and name the performers.
