Fair to attract local history buffs
The 108th West Alexander Fair is returning to the area for six days this September. It is presented by the West Alexander Agricultural Association.
The event will have all the traditional activities that one sees at an agricultural fair. There will be livestock exhibits, contests in vegetables, fruits and home crafts, and amusement rides. A grandstand is set to feature such acts as the Sarah Hayes Trio, Deb Dougherty, Easy Street, and the Pioneer Cloggers.
There will also be a display of 4-H/FFA market animals, a demolition derby, bingo games, an antique car show, and a rodeo. Other events include a truck pull, Arena Cross (which is a quads and motor cross racing event), and a fireworks display. Visitors to the fair can also compete in scarecrow contests, ensuring that there should be something happening during the week that will appeal to everyone's tastes.
Organizers of events such as this often have a need for items such as posters, banners, and flyers, all of which they can get from their local printing company. The flyers especially can advertise the fair across nearby communities, such as McMurray.
The West Alexander Fair is being held at the Fairgrounds from September 1 to 6. Admission is $8 per day or $28 for all six days. Call 724-484-7435 for more information about this historic fair.
