Christmas comes to Canonsburg
The holidays are a special time for everyone, but Canonsburg will be going all out to celebrate once again this year.
The city holds an enormous party, Canonsburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas, which is now an annual event. The celebration takes a full weekend that is packed with tons of fun.
On Friday, things get started with the Community Tree Lighting, which will take place at 6.00pm at the Canonsburg Borough Building.
Saturday brings a live performance by the Children’s Performance Center, a chance to meet Santa’s reindeer, and the Christmas Parade, which will likewise start at 6.00pm.
There are many activities scheduled to run both days. More than 50 vendors are setting up Christmas Markets in three locations throughout the city, and both Santa and the Grinch will be available for photos. Santa will be at the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, while the Grinch will be found at the Canonsburg Senior Center, where Mrs. Claus will be holding Story Time sessions.
Miniature trains will be on display in the window of the City Mission Thrift Store throughout the event, and food trucks will be available in the parking lot at Rite Aid Plaza.
Local organizations and companies will take part in in the Christmas House Competition, and the Frank Sarris Library will host the Annual Gingerbread House Contest. Organizers of events like this can use poster printing to create advertising for them.
