Canonsburg to host springtime running series for kids
Next month, the Healthy Kids Running Series will begin in Canonsburg.
This action-packed event will include six divisions for children in Pre-K to Grade 8. The cost for parents to sign their children up for each division is $40.
Divisions the series includes are a 50-yard event for Pre-K children ages two to three, a 75-yard run for Pre-K children ages four to five, a run for a quarter of a mile for kindergarteners, a half-mile event for children in Grades 2 and 3, a one-mile run for children Grades 4 and 5, and another one-mile run for students Grades 6 to 8. Hosts of similar events commonly turn to flyer printing to produce low-cost copies of event information for participants to refer to.
Children earn points from each race they complete during the five-week series. The overall winners will be awarded trophies at the conclusion of the event.
Individuals who are high school-aged or older can volunteer to help with various parts of the race. Areas in need of volunteers include the registration table, race starters, group leaders, and timer help. Volunteers can register through an online form or by emailing Healthy Kids Running Series.
