Canonsburg embraces holiday spirit with Old Fashioned Christmas
Downtown Canonsburg will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the city's second Old Fashioned Christmas celebration.
Visitors will be taken back in time at the event, which runs two days on Pike Street. Businesses along the street will have holiday-themed decorated windows and will be open for those perusing for Christmas gifts. There will also be a Santa Claus parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
This is only the second year for the event. It was created in 2018 - with The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce and The Borough of Canonsburg - as an event where everyone in the community, despite their financial situations, could come together and celebrate the holidays.
There will be food, warm mulled apple cider, and free hot chocolate. Choirs will be singing popular Christmas carols at the event's center stage and carolers will be spreading more merry music up and down the street.
Canonsburg Hidden Treasures Store is holding a Ginger Bread House Contest during the festival.
The event is free of charge, thanks in large part to corporate and individual sponsors. The event's website says it is still looking for sponsorship, which ranges from $200 to $5,000.
